PROFILE

Scott Schoel graduated from Auburn University’s school of Architecture in 1988.  After working for several firms in Alabama and Atlanta between 1982 and 1994, he started his own firm in 1994  in Decatur, Alabama.    He is licensed in Alabama, Tennessee, North Carolina and Virginia.  Most of his work is located in these states with a few projects in Colorado, West Virginia, Georgia, and Florida. Schoel’s work and methods are firmly grounded in historical tradition but not limited to a particular style, period, or movement.  The detail, construction methods, historical relevance and popular fashion are what compose each tradition.

Justin Markland graduated from Southern Polytechnic State University in Marietta, Georgia with his Bachelor of Architecture in 2007.  After interning at large firms around Atlanta, he pursued an opportunity at Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama.  He met Scott Schoel in 2011 and began working at Schoel Architecture in 2012.  He is licensed in the state of Alabama and heads up the Huntsville satellite office.

John Underwood received his Bachelor of Science in Ornamental Horticulture & Landscape Design from Auburn University in 1987. He was the owner of Environmental Design, in Decatur, Alabama until 2008 when he decided to join his father at Underwood Associates.  He has been with Schoel Architecture since 2013.
